This TV report is rehashing the same old news about stars who have been in trouble and when they should make their return, if at all. There is the usual list of those who were involved in drunk driving, illegal gambling, drug abuse, evasion of military service, etc. We can’t be bothered to mention their names anymore since they have nothing to do with us. These entertainers have to practice self-restraint, but for how long? Depends on how unforgiving the Korean public is.

A) There is no fixed period for self-restraint. It is really difficult to specify a certain period. It depends on the kind of social controversy caused. Q) 사회적으로 물의를 일으킨 연예인들은 자숙의 시간을 갖겠다고 보통 말하는데요.
A) 자숙의 시간이란 게 참 어려운 표현이기도 합니다.정해진 기간이 있는 것도 아니고, 사회적인 물의와 또 논란은 다르기도 하죠. 최근 박시후와 MC몽이 복귀를 하려 한다는 소식이 있었는데요.
박시후는 지난해 2월 성 스캔들이 불거졌었는데요. 소속사 이적 문제 등 당시 여러 가지가 맞물려 있었습니다. 여러 이야기가 오고가긴 했지만 박시후 스캔들은 개인사로 어느 정도 정리가 됐죠. 박시후는 한동안 활동을 자제하다가 돌파구를 중국으로 찾았는데요. 중국 영화 [향기]에 출연을 하면서 중국 춘계 국제 모터쇼와 영화 제작발표회 등에 모습을 드러냈습니다. 지난 16일에 열린 북경영화제에도 참석했었죠. 하지만 아직 한국활동 재개까지는 시간이 더 걸릴 것 같습니다. 출연하려 했던 드라마도 최종단계에서 무산됐기도 했구요. 한국연예매니지먼트협회에서도 박시후를 사회적으로 물의를 일으킨 당사자라며 곧바로 연예활동 복귀를 하는 데 대해서 좀 더 자숙기간이 필요하다고 밝혔습니다. 이 문제는 속사정도 있고, 이견도 있기 때문에 결국은 박시후와 제작사, 그리고 방송사의 선택 문제라고 생각됩니다. 전제로 당연히 대중이 받아들여야 한다는 부분이 깔려야겠죠.
